Good morning, afternoon, and evening!

We're doing some database and other light server maintenance this weekend (upgrading the version of MySQL we use in particular, but also probably doing some CDN work.)

I expect all of this to be pretty invisible except for some small "couple of minute" blips as we switch between machines, but there's a chance you will notice something untoward. I'll keep an eye on comments as per usual.

🤔️ I think I should try to beta more. Editing seems to put me in a mood to actually sit and do creative work after hours instead of just while it away on youtube and piss away my nonexistent energy. Maybe it would help to pretend like I'm betaing for all my existing WIPs.

🎵️ Bought a last-minute ticket to Battle Beast (with guests Majestica, Dominum). Battle Beast awesome as always (😍️ Noora my beloved 😍️) and was technically an album release party too, so that was fun! Majestica's singer blew up on youtube recently (maybe it was a during the pandemic thing?) but imo he's not as good live. Overall Majestica did not impress me much, they were just... fine? There's not anything they're doing that isn't being done better by other bands, so I hope they can find a niche soon because right now it's kind of Dragonforce but Meatloaf is the singer. Dominum was kinda cute! They have a kind of zombie theme and a lot of energy and power in the vocals. Nothing groundbreaking here but I admire a band that commits to a bit.

⏳️ Beast in Black and Myrath announced for next year. Excitingggg. Also I'm remembering when I first heard about Amaranthe/Epica which is now not so very long away and I thought well let's purchase it now and the time will pass anyway and now look at that, the time has indeed passed. Sucks that that's true.

😬️ RL job so far is ... my interest is somewhat wearing off and I'm seeing things to be annoyed by, but the previous team is crumbling at a pace I didn't actually anticipate.

🍂️ Autumn colours are out in full force. So pretty. I don't want to go back to woooorrrrkkkkkkkkkk.............. I just wanna cronch leaves. Why can't this be my job.

🎄️ I'm going home for Christmas this year. I'm dreading it already.

DW is seeing some issues due to today's Amazon outage. For right now it looks like the site is loading, but it may be slow. Some of our processes like notifications and journal search don't appear to be running and can't be started due to rate limiting or capacity issues. DW could go down later if Amazon isn't able to improve things soon, but our services should return to normal when Amazon has cleared up the outage.

Edit: all services are running as of 16:12 CDT, but there is definitely still a backlog of notifications to get through.

Edit 2: and at 18:20 CDT everything's been running normally for about the last hour.
